By presenting my old iPhone in a similar manner to a zoological specimen, I propose the idea that smartphones, as they are typically used, become something more akin to a body part, rather than a mere tool. Through the use of blood, I highlight the fact that the production of smartphones necessitates enslavement through the extraction of rare-earth minerals, and manufacturing. While you read this statement, you are holding in your hand this fruit of blood and tears; you will never have to acknowledge the people who suffered to create it in the first place.
